The owner of a business that has been in the hands of the same family for over 60 years said it’s a sense of pride, rather than profit, that is keeping a lot of family-owned businesses open in Ireland.
Bank of Ireland has revised down its projections for Irish growth this year to 1.6pc, from 2.8pc previously. But the bank is forecasting a rebound 2027.
